On Friday 22nd June, the Club was treated to a workshop in Free Motion Quilting, from our talented and imaginative member Jean.
The workshop started with Jean getting the ladies to draw quilting designs, such as pebbles, flames and swirls. To draw these designs gives the quilter a feel for the movement of the quilt on the machine, as the quilting progresses.

The ladies then moved on to using their sewing machines to create these same designs... some ladies found a reasonable degree of confidence fairly quickly, and others took a while to get the feel of it... but everyone made some happy progress even in those few hours.

Pam added to her swirls, pebbles and flames, by trying her hand with leaves & hearts. Well done Pam! |
As with virtually every aspect of patchwork or quilting, the building of skill takes time, patience and a whole lot of practice... Jean has certainly given the ladies a very good start.
Thank you Jean for sharing your knowledge with the Club & encouraging the ladies in their learning of Free Motion Quilting.
